And here’s what else I’ve been working on lately:
Currently in progress, Compassion Fatigue features a stressed-out veterinarian whose children are implicated in a shooting…and it gets worse from there. Here’s what the beginning looks like.
And, recently completed:
This World and the Next is a near-term post-apocalyptic novel, beginning when fourteen-year-old ace gamer and Air Force brat Rosa Calder takes shelter with her family from a seemingly harmless power outage—but when they come back above ground, their world, and everything Rosa has ever known, is gone. Here’s a scene. Sometimes this is a screenplay too.
Other People’s Pets is a novel about Bill, a Chicago dogwalker in moral turmoil over a night he can’t remember. Also featuring: lycanthropy, theoretical physics, and kamikaze poetry. Read an excerpt here.
A Near-Life Experience is a novel set in the 1990s about a love triangle in a Bozeman, Montana trailer park. An earlier version was a finalist in the Pirate’s Alley Faulkner Society’s contest. You can read an excerpt here. I’ve also recently rewritten the story as a screenplay.
