A backyard ultra is a long-distance endurance race. Participants will be given one hour to run around the Reservoir–a distance of 4.3 miles. Once the run is complete, runners can relax for the remaining part of the hour. This is considered 1 lap. The second lap begins with the start of the second hour. Runners have one hour to complete each additional lap. The race continues every consecutive hour until only one runner is left. This runner is the winner.
